 | The UB Wings soared in
Feasterville this weekend with 7 games between the 2 teams. The B team
started off the action with a 13-3 game against Cornell. Later in the
day they took down Stony Brook 13-1. They finished off the weekend with
a game vs. Temple, a team that had beaten Towson; UBs only loss this
season. But they jumped out to quick 4-0 in less than five minutes.
They completed the undefeated weekend at Feasterville for the first
time since the 2008 ECRHA Regional Championships.
The
D1 squad showed why they deserve the top ranking in the country despite
missing two key players. They started off against a good defensive team
in Stony Brook. Down 3-2 in the 3rd period Shaun Golden completed his
hat trick early in the 3^rd and the Wings never looked back winning
6-4. The Wings regrouped and played UCONN and rolled from beginning to
end and won in decisive fashion 10-2. Their next game was a primetime
game against last years ECRHA Champs, Rhode Island and they would have
to play them without Shaun Golden. However, due to poor rink conditions
the game was pushed back to the next morning. So down 3 D1 players they
called upon myself and freshman John McLaughlin to step up. It was a
back and forth game until the 3rd period when the Wings went 4 for 4
on shots putting the game out of reach. The Wings would win 10-3. Their
final game was against Suffolk CC. It took just 49 seconds to go up and
the Wings would cruise winning 15-2. Tyler Walser had 7 goals and 5
assists in the effort and he has the Triple Crown for goals, assists
and points in the nation (25-21-46). Alexx Christie also has the
goaltending Triple Crown in ECRHA.
Overall the wings
went 7-0 and outscored their opponents 78-19. The Wings will enjoy
Thanksgiving and head down to Harrisburg in the first weekend of
December for the final trip of the semester. One last thing, I got to
kiss the Wings Cup for the first time as the Myspace Predators won the
Monday Bronze league.
Remember folks to Get Saucy!
