Junior Cory Conacher of the Canisius College hockey team was honored on Tuesday as the Atlantic Hockey Player of the Month. Conacher led the Canisius offense in November, posting 13 points, eight goals, five assists and four power-play tallies in nine games.
The junior opened the month by helping the Griffs to their first weekend sweep against Mercyhurst in the 21-year, 60-game all-time series between the two schools. Conacher registered two assists in the opener and then scored the game-winning goal on a penalty shot in the finale with just 5:36 remaining in regulation to break a 3-3 tie.
After scoring a goal in a three-point series against Connecticut, Conacher had his most successful collegiate weekend against AIC. The Burlington, Ontario native posted six points, four goals and two assists in a sweep over the Yellow Jackets. He recorded a career-best four points on two goals and two assists in the opener and then added two power play goals in the finale.
Conacher finished the month by scoring a goal in each game at Army. He has currently netted a goal in four-straight games, the longest run in his career.
Through 14 games in his junior season, Conacher has posted a team-best 19 points and 12 goals to go along with seven assists. His 12 goals are tied for the most in the country, while ranking fourth with 0.86 goals per game and 16th with 1.36 points per game. His 12 goals and four power-play goals this season already match career-high totals.
