UB B Team Update
UB Wings B squad goes 3-0. Clinches 3 Seed at Regionals.
The UB Wings B team went into Pottstown for a make up event. They would have to do so without veteran defenseman Nick Narchus who was out with an illness. The Wings first game was against Towson. They were looking to revenage a loss from earlier in the season. The Wings came out strong and ended up winning 6-1 between the play of former player turned goalie Ben Kozar and a 6 point effort from my Bryan Feiler. The next game on slate was against Rutgers. The Wings took a page out of the D1 teams book by winning 5-1 while scoring 4 power play goals. Their final game on the weekend was against Hofstra; a team they barely got by 5-4 last month. The Wings wanted to make sure they would get out of Pottsotwn with 3 wins. They went up 4-0 in the first and eventually would put up a 10 spot. Jeff Elias had 3 goals and 2 assists in his final regular season game in a UB uniform to cap what has been one of the best careers in UB roller hockey history. Elias had 134 goals 152 assists and 286 points in 126 career games over 5 years. He was also a 5 time ECRHA All-Star and received 2008 All-Tournament honors at the NCRHA National Championships.
Both teams travel to Feasterville, PA for the ECRHA Regional Championships this weekend. The D1 team will test their undefeated conference record against #8 Stony Brook, #4 Towson and #5 West Point, before entering the bracket the stage. The B team will face #6 Suffolk CC, #7 Stony Brook and #2 West Chester. Each team will play 3 games then the top 6 out of 8 teams will reach the single elimination bracket stage.
