D1 Wings get #1 overall Seed.

The UB Wings D1 team went into San Jose with one thing on their mind. A national

Championship. They started their run against #1 in the country, Lindenwood. The shorthanded Wings would beat the Lions by the score of 7-2. Next the Wings would play Missouri-St. Louis, last years national champions. The Wings would come out on top again, 8-4. The Wings had already clinched the number 1 seed and would face Michigan State in their final round robin game. Penalties and questionable reffing led to the Wings falling to the Spartans, 7-5. The Wings will play at 630/930pm eastern time against ECRHA rivals, Stony Brook in the sweet 16. Tyler Walser leads all scorers with 13 points and Alex Durinka is tied for second with 11. The two combined for 7 Power play goals in 3 games.

The UB Wings B team had a harder time with their round robin games. Their first was against undefeated Western Conference Champion Arizona State. The Wings came out flying and had a 5-3 lead after one. The Wings laid back a bit and poor coverage, let the Sun Devils come back and win by the score of 8-7. Next they would play Penn State.  A rematch of the ECRHA Championship Game. The Wings went down 3-1 and would cut the lead in half but could not come back. Their final game was against Central Michigan. The Wings would take complete control throughout the game and end with a 10-2 win. Defensive partners Mike Elias and Dan Thuman combined for 5 goals in the effort. The Wings will play Michigan State at 8/11am eastern time tomorrow morning, in a play in game. The winner will play Lindenwood in the quarter finals.
