A quick catch up
It's been quite some time since I have blogged. In all the years that I have been running the Wings organization, we have never been this busy! It has been non stop for a few months now. Last year we had around 90 teams in the house league. This year we are at 115 with teams still trying to get in! It is pretty wild to say the least.
I think people really like the jerseys this year. It helps the league out in so many ways. We are also getting ready to flex out the divisions this week and next. It should make for some great competition!
We just hosted the 2010 Torhs Buffalo regional. It was a great tournament as numerous Wings teams brought home medals. I actually ended my long 4 year retirement in the tournament circuit. The only thing playing this weekend did for me was reiterate why I retired in the first place. There is a very slim chance that I will ever lace them up in tournament activity again. My mental game is too far off and I have no desire to recapture it.
We are getting ready to launch Season 2 of our LTP program this weekend! The program has grown tremendously since last year. In 2009, we had approximately 20 registered players. This year, we are close to 40 players! It should make for a great season. We are still accepting registrations! Special shout out to the Smith family for all of their hard work with the LTP and Beginner program!
On a side note, the President is about to land less than a quarter mile from my house and I don't care? There are police cars all over the place, people outside standing around and businesses blocked off for his arrival. I feel like I should care and even tried to make myself care but I just don't. I would be more excited if Steve Wright was landing home from a one week vacation.
Lastly, my dog, Sparky is recovering from minor surgery right now. Most of you know Sparky and have seen him racing around the Kenan Center. Say a quick prayer for him. He is a great dog - I couldn't ask for a better one! Me and Sofia will be picking him up around 4pm today.
I will do my best to keep you all updated moving forward! Thank you for your patience.
Signing off a little tired -
