The Buffalo Wings Roller Hockey League has 2 basic goals when it comes to our youngest players.  The first goal is to teach the boys and girls how to play In-Line Hockey.  The second, and maybe most important, goal is to help kids live a positive life.  We believe that learning a skill builds self confidence and provides an outlet to establish friendships through a fun, recreational sport.  Our coaches and instructors are positive role models who give of their time for the love of the sport and the desire to have a beneficial impact on kids’ lives.

With the Learn-to Play Program in its 2nd year, it’s apparent that the program has really taken off.  Our registration was actually triple that of last year’s.  We had a ton of kids return for a second year, but the really surprising number was the total number of new-comers.  Seeing so many excited new faces was totally thrilling.  Of course the goal is to see the players progress into the Buffalo Wings House League, once they are comfortable.  Some of these youngsters start out, barely able to skate, but soon enough are skating with a reasonable amount of speed, both forward and backward.  Our coaches teach them the basics of the game as well as Fair Play and Good Sportsmanship.   These are the various programs that we offer throughout the year at the Amherst Ice Center from the end of April through the end of August and at the Kenan Center in Lockport from September through mid-April.
